What makes a workplace truly fulfilling? At DBCS, it’s not just the roles or responsibilities—it’s the people, the culture, and the impact made every day for Deafblind communities across Canada.

From Ontario to beyond, our staff bring unique perspectives, passions, and stories that shape a positive work environment and open the door to meaningful career paths.

We sat down with three employees in very different roles to explore what inspires them, what their day-to-day looks like, and what makes DBCS such a special place to work.

Jessica White

Years of Service: 22 years
Job Title: Manager, DeafBlind Community Services – East

A smiling Jessica White poses for a photo. She wears a beige cardigan and burgundy t-shirt. She is smiling brightly.

For Jessica White, leadership at DBCS is about more than meetings and planning. It’s about building relationships—with staff, clients, and the community.

Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: “I love that even though I’m not on the front lines anymore, I still get to connect with the people we serve and watch their independence grow.”

What keeps Jessica motivated is the chance to witness growth—both in clients who achieve what once seemed impossible and in the organization itself, which is rapidly expanding to meet demand.

And the best part of the job? The clients. “Want to rock climb but you’re feel limited because you’re blind? No problem—our staff will climb right beside you and make it accessible.”

To Jessica, her work is joyful, fulfilling, and inspiring.

Fun Fact about Jessica: She interpreted for Jean Chretien for the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the Charter of Rights in 2002 and Freedoms at the National Arts Centre when he was the prime minister and she was an educational interpreter!

Kelli-Ann Joyce

Years of Service: 19 years
Job Title: DBCS Project Lead

Kelli-Ann smiles brightly while holding an award. She wears a CNIB Deafblind Community services top and lanyard.

Some people find comfort in routine. Kelli-Ann Joyce thrives in the opposite.

Q: If you could describe your work in three words, what would they be?
A: “Synergistic, empowering, and uplifting.”

What drives Kelli-Ann forward is alignment with DBCS’s mission and the chance to help colleagues and clients. She leans into challenges with a fixer’s mindset.

Outside of work, Kelli-Ann recharges in nature: “I spend as much time outdoors as possible—it centers me.”

While many don’t see the behind-the-scenes juggling, it’s that constant adaptability that makes the role both exciting and rewarding. “I thrive in organized chaos. There’s energy in connecting the dots and turning uncertainty into opportunity.”

Dallas Lynch

Years of Service: 1.5
Job Title: Manager of Community Services

A smiling Dallas poses in front of greenery in an outdoor space. He wears a brightly coloured patterned shirt.

For Dallas, his role is defined by change—and that’s what keeps things interesting.

Q: What keeps you motivated to continue doing great work at DBCS?

A: “I like challenge and being part of something that feels impactful.”

Describing the role as inquisitive, adaptive, and dedicated, Dallas highlights the importance of teamwork: “It would be impossible to do this work alone. It takes a strong team to succeed.”

When he isn’t collaborating at work, you’ll find him exploring his passion for coffee—experimenting with rare beans and unique brewing techniques. (Ask him about anaerobic fermented coffee from Panama, and you might get a masterclass!)

Fun Fact about Dallas: His creative streak also shines in unexpected ways: “I once drew 625 hands in 5 days while studying anatomy.”

Why Work at DBCS?

Across these three stories, one theme is clear: DBCS isn’t just a great place to work—it’s a community where people grow, adapt, and thrive together.

Whether it’s helping their Deafblind clients rock climb, navigate daily tasks with confidence, or celebrating the little things (like a perfect cup of coffee), our staff share a culture of curiosity, compassion, and collaboration.

With a growing need for our services—there’s never been a better time to explore roles at DBCS.
