Laurie Goldthorpe

Laurie GoldthorpeHow long have you been a client of Deafblind Community Services?

“I have been a client of the deaf blind services for four and half years.”

How has being Deafblind impacted your life?

“My life has been impacted a lot by being involved with this service. When I got involved with Deafblind community they helped me cope better with life skills and not to feel so alone anymore. Now I have some friends like me and we can communicate with each other.”

How has intervention impacted your life?

“Intervention has been a great help in my life because I can do more activities with an Intervenor’s help. Intervenors are awesome people. They are our eyes and ears and I take my hat off to all of them.”

What would you like to tell other people about Deafblindness or intervention?

“In the future we need more support for Deafblind intervention services so that we all can go to meetings and meet other deaf blind people to share our experience, also, to be able to cope more easily with every day life with an Intervenor’s help.”
